2005 Conference

Conference Photos - Page 2

Field trips held on the last day of the conference are great learning opportunities. This year's field trips were well attended and were lead by knowledgeable staff members from Eagle Bluff.

Here are a few photos from the Karst Country trip.

An example of the fractured rock strata that forms the foundation for many of the issues surrounding karst country.

The siting of buildings, roads, landfills and other potential pollution sources in karst country create unique environmental problems due to the unstable nature of the underlaying fractured rock.

A team of MNA members run an experiment showing how pollution and water interact in karst country.
A team of MNA educators conduct an experiment that illustrates the problem of how pollution finds its way into groundwater and the speed by which it moves throughout the system.

This osprey with its catch put on quite a show for us on the karst country hike by first flying overhead and then landing in a nearby tree to eat its catch.

The area around Eagle Bluff hosts many raptors. This osprey put on quite a show for the Karst Country hike by flying low overhead and then landing in a nearby tree to eat its catch-of-the-day.

If you didn't get to go on a field trip, be sure you schedule enough time to do so next year. It's a great opportunity to learn about the wildlife and environment of the area and to chat with the host organization's naturalists.

Watch for information about the 2006 MNA Conference starting about July of 2006. Hope to see you there!
