2008 MNA Conference Plans
After taking a deep breath after a very successful 2007 conference, the MNA Programs Committee is once again meeting to plan our next conference.
Mark November 21-23 on your calendars and plan on getting together with other educators at Luther Crest, near Alexandria, Minnesota. (Luther Crest is the former Lake Carlos Environmental Center).
The theme of this year's conference is "The Darker Side of Nature: Exploring the Underbelly of the Natural World." Topics that may be explored are poisonous plants and animals, carnivorous plants, carnivores and cannibalism, defenses mechanisms, excrements, sex and mating, violence, predator/prey interactions, among others.
As in past years, the conference will continue the tradition of three main strands (natural history, teaching, and administration). In addition, new for this year, we will add a new session called “Hot Topics.” This session could cover things like climate change or sustainability.
The cost this year will be approximately $80/attendee and will include six meals and lodging.
Mark your calendars now!
